Congrats, you’re in touch with your Ideal Body Nature (IBN). It’s showing you the truth — REALITY. And if you see that truth reflected everywhere you look, in your mind, heart, and your spirit, you’re living in a “High Reality IQ” (or RIQ+).
Do you believe me, with your whole mind, body, heart & soul, when I say that being in the body of your dreams could be easier than NOT?
No. Most likely not.
I hate to be the bearer of temporary bad news, but it’s my job to tell the hard truth. The odds are against you: if you are struggling with overweight at this point in time, you are in all likelihood struggling with what I call “RIQ-d”.
If you can accept that minor discomfort, this hard truth, we can get you to the freaking WONDER-ful truth! Weight loss can be AWESOME.
Reality IQ “divots”, “deficits” & “Deficiency”
Most of my students believe they are well-ready, more than ready, to lose weight when they sign up to my school UpRoots Wellness. And they ALL come in with hope, belief, and readiness. Most of them don’t REALLY know at the beginning that certain parts within the way they understand weight loss, within the “Reality IQ” they’ve shaped towards their body, has been … dented.
The ONLY way any of us can change our bodies for good is to change the beliefs we have around them. That starts to happen when we understand HOW our self-reflection got muddled to begin with.

1. Reality IQ | RIQ
Think of RIQ as a mirror that reflects reality to you. It’s how you see the world. Whatever “Real Reality” is, even according to science & philosophy, unknowable. BECAUSE we all see reality through our own perspective. It’s almost like a lens, a filter, or the mirror within a camera that allows you to see your full picture.
RIQ is simply the term I use to describe that mirror.
2. Reality IQ divot | RIQ-d
A RIQ “divot” is just that: a piece of your mirror that’s been knocked out, or pushed in, by someone aggressive RIQ taking a swipe at yours (to validate itself).

RIQ divots happen when someone overpowers your perspective of reality, the reflection in your mirror, and imposes a rift in your view. “Real Reality”, as it can only BE seen through our unique perspective — the mirror of our personal RIQ — is distorted as a consequence.
It’s like a divot in a camera’s mirror, the picture will look fine aside from this one area: at the divot point, the view becomes distorted… maybe even beyond all recognition.
RIQ divots distort reality and are caused by others’ RIQ imposing on yours.
3. The 2 RIQ-d’s | RIQ divots & deficits
RIQ divots & deficits are both called “RIQ-d” because they’re essentially the same, but with one small difference: time & proximity.
After an RIQ divot is made, you will still have a memory of how your RIQ reflected reality before the assault.
A RIQ divot shows up as:
- feeling hurt and, usually, betrayed by someone
- getting defensive (fight response)
- wanting to recoil from someone (flight response)
Those reactions are a sign you have a divot that needs to be filled. If you do not fill it, a Reality IQ deficit forms.
Reality IQ divots are created by people suffering from RIQ-D: a “Reality IQ Deficiency”.

4. Reality IQ deficits | RIQ-d
RIQ deficit is the more serious form of the two RIQ-d’s. It happens when someone gets a divot, or many, that are too deep or they have them too long to heal easily. When time passes after the divot’s made, without taking care of the damage that’s been done, it’s difficult to remember Real Reality anymore. This also happens when many people with a full-on Reality IQ Deficiency — like a community of zealots or a family with RIQ-D running rampant — are around someone (like a kid) who is not yet suffering from full RIQ-D. It becomes overpowering.
RIQ will constantly try to heal itself, and reflect back Real Reality, but if the RIQ-D divots are coming from so many angles, or they happen time and time again, self-consciousness begins to question whether Real Reality even exists. This is an RIQ deficit.
A RIQ deficit with weight loss this shows up as:
- feeling constant hurt or betrayal by ‘the world’ at large
- believing your body is working against you and will keep you fat, skinny people have to starve themselves, being at your ideal weight is “unrealistic”
- fight response: being defensive before offense has taken place
- you don’t actually understand why you get anxious or aggressive when someone (who hasn’t created an RIQ divot on the subject) asks you something innocent like “How is your fitness journey going?”
- flight response: wanting to recoil from a person/topic who has created divots in the past even if they aren’t going to hurt you at the moment
- anxiety, depression, listlessness, low self-worth, lack of self-trust
RIQ divots are open wounds that need healing. RIQ deficits are pieces of yourself that are starving for nurturance. RIQ deficits feel like a slow dying. Those pieces of you need to experience your truth, not someone else’s.
Remember how a baby takes in absolutely everything around it, how mesmerized they are? That’s because we are appreciative beings by nature. We are created to take in the world and all its glory. When divots distort our view for too long, we become starved for that appreciation and cranky about it. Like we’re hangry.
If RIQ deficits are not treated, they can eventually become RIQ Deficiency and start making divots themselves.
5. Reality IQ Deficiency | RIQ-D
RIQ-D is a syndrome that you do not have.
No, I’m not blowing smoke up ya bum. I told you: truth only here.
You do not have RIQ-D because you would not still be reading this (unless it was to make fun of me). I highly doubt that’s any of you because this article would make someone suffering from RIQ-D very, very, angry.
The RIQ-D person is the one who tells you to “face reality” then proceeds to tell you some cynical, far out thing that makes you feel like CRAP about yourself, the world, and/or human nature in general. They speak & act condescendingly to you because they look down on you for being open to actually viewing what’s being reflected to you in reality right now. And they are always ‘sure’ that they ‘know’ better. They are as convinced as any other person with an active mental illness believes their delusions are true and everyone else is crazy.
It is a mental illness I believe hasn’t been diagnosed yet. Many, many people suffer from it.
Sane people do NOT need to convince you that the world is cool, or life is pretty sweet, or that you can do whatever you want to do with your life.
The person suffering from RIQ-D syndrome grows an “Ego-Tool” shell around them and totally detaches from their own RIQ to live there. It’s usually permanent because it’s very difficult to then make contact with their RIQ to heal it.
RIQ-D creates RIQ-d in others. The ET keeps the person’s awareness totally within a negative, simplistic, replica of RIQ, ironically, to keep them away from being hurt. There are many/traumatic unhealed RIQ-d in their true mirror. Their real RIQ is so dinged up by RIQ-d that it’s impossible to see a thing anymore, and the damage is pretty much permanent without serious intervention.
Unfortunately, the RIQ-D person may be safe from acknowledging Real Reality (that they simply have not chosen to be the awesome person they are meant to be) isn’t safe around others’ RIQ… because they need constant reassurance that it isn’t them, or their fault, it’s the world, other people, or their genes that make it impossible for them to lose weight.
They can even unknowingly create more RIQ-d trying to ‘help’ (ie. giving really bad, cynical, or rude ‘advice’ that usually involves not-trying-to-do/be-anything-better to ‘prevent disappointment’).
RIQ-D is a mental un-wellness that creates havoc on those closest to them as the syndrome constantly seeks to justify its own actions as it can’t rely on Reality to back it up.
6. Base Reality | RIQ 0
Finally, we are getting somewhere! RIQ 0 is objectivity. Sounds simple. Sure. But, to be honest, it freaking is not easy at all! Not for us! Not for you and I! How do I know? Again, because you’re reading this article! Haha.
Everyone will suffer from RIQ-d in their lives, and all of us need to practice objectivity (trust me, I’ve spent a lot of time around other scientists). We all need an RIQ 0 strategy!
There are lots of people out there predominantly living in RIQ 0, but that’s because they practice it. There are even many, many people living in RIQ+! But they don’t need this article as much as someone like me needs this article. They probably know how to practice. They might not need me to show them all of the tools I created for myself to tap into RIQ 0 and heal my own RIQ-d/RIQ-D.
I was at least on the verge of RIQ-D at one point in my life, if not suffering from a full out syndrome, I know that it can be healed by practicing RIQ 0.
RIQ 0 is simply understanding that everything can be figured out; with enough time and resources, you can accomplish anything.
7. High Reality IQ | RIQ+
My favourite. RIQ+ is turning the one-way RIQ mirror into a two-way mirror that reflects not only RIQ 0 (the objective truth that you can do anything with enough time and resources) but also your Ideal Body Nature (the subjective truth that your best body is the easiest thing for you to have — with the right guidance.
Tapping into RIQ+ is what happens when “manifesting” actually works. It makes everything you want seem effortlessly “attracted” to you simply because you are walking, talking, looking, seeing and acting in all the right ways that align you to your best self.
The body you want is just a reflection in RIQ from your IBN showing you who you’re meant to be (at your highest point).
You are, like everything else in nature, destined to not just grow, but bloom. The body you want is just you… in full flower. RIQ+ is your guide.
RIQ+ is your destiny mixed with scientific thought. RIQ+ makes your best body the easiest one for you to be in!
